Mercury

Before he was even officially accepted into the Alliance, Jonathan Greenspun experienced a defining example of the strength and generosity within the NY Alliance community.

During a Business in Progress (BIP) session, Jonathan shared that he was trying to connect with Adam Shapiro of Ballyhoo Media. He believed that if he could reach Adam, he could assist with a regulatory issue, and was confident the opportunity would lead to new business. Although the request initially received no response in the room, what happened next demonstrated the true power of Alliance relationships.

After the meeting, Alliance member Mitch Wergiles, founder and owner of Premier Perk, approached Jonathan. Acting on a simple hunch, Mitch texted his son, thinking he might know Adam. That small, proactive gesture set everything in motion.

Despite Adam being difficult to reach, rarely returning calls or emails, Mitch, through his son, persisted and ultimately made the strategic introduction Jonathan needed. Within two months, that introduction resulted in Jonathan securing the business, valued at approximately $25,000.

The Results

What makes this story remarkable is that Mitch extended himself for someone who was not yet even officially a member. His effort reflects the culture of the NY Alliance: members who take initiative, leverage their networks, and support one another simply because that is what the group does.

Jonathan’s experience is a vivid reminder that within the NY Alliance, connections become opportunities, and opportunities become outcomes all driven by the willingness of members to help each other succeed. That is the power of the room.
