Tannenbaum Helpern

Joel Hirschtritt, partner at Tannenbaum Helpern, shares a story demonstrating how relationships through the NY Alliance can lead to substantial business opportunities.

Fellow member Jon Ecker brought Jordan Brackett, the newly appointed CEO of Asphalt Green, as a guest to an Alliance meeting. Asphalt Green is a prominent not-for-profit in Manhattan offering swimming and sports programs for children. Joel was familiar with Jordan through his prior work with the Educational Alliance, another NYC non-profit, which his firm had represented for several years in litigation, real estate, and employment matters.

At the meeting, Adam Felsenstein, Joel’s partner and fellow Alliance member, noticed Jordan’s attendance and suggested that Joel reach out. Joel invited Jordan to lunch, where their shared connections, including a mutual connection to The Heshel School, helped build rapport. Subsequent visits to Asphalt Green allowed Joel and Adam to present the firm’s expertise and propose an opportunity to represent the organization.

The Results

Impressed by their advice, responsiveness, and reasonable fees, Jordan engaged Tannenbaum Helpern for an initial matter. Over the following years, Asphalt Green has grown into a major client, generating over $100,000 annually in legal fees and making Tannenbaum Helpern the institution’s go-to firm for legal work and general counsel.

This story highlights how introductions, shared connections, and personal engagement within the NY Alliance can create lasting relationships and significant business outcomes.
